Akinyele Umoja is a professor of Africana Studies. He is the author of We Will Shoot Back: Armed Resistance and the Mississippi Freedom Movement. Born and raised in los Angelas California Akinyele Umoja is also an activist and founding member of the Malcolm X grassroots Movement and the New Afrikan People’s Organisation.
